Monk Mandino probably doesn't care about your opinion. You won't catch him drudging through social media statuses, pouring over digital streams, or parroting the newest song or dance. In truth; if you are lucky enough to catch him anywhere, you're probably already intimately acquainted with smoky rooms, lofty conversations and unapologetic aspirations. He's an impressionist, or a realist or a jazz musician without instrument --- fortunately, his pen is as adept as the most skilled conductor's baton

Heavily influenced by unapologetically mixed West Coast group super group  War, as well as the West Coast underground Hip-Hop scene, Monk Mandino is a wanderer of sorts. His comfortable (and intentional) reinvention of self comes complete with a new moniker paired with each new phase of his journey. However, each reintroduction retains the distinction of including Monk: a subtle homage as a reminder of the dedication and introspection required of an artist. Since 1996, he's been: MonkeyShine McBrain, Monk McNasty, Monk McNizzle; and now currently, Monk Mandino. The latter being a head nod to Og Mandino, author of "The Greatest Salesman in the World."

Monk is not your traditional, career emcee. He jokingly; albeit proudly, admits to holding many jobs spanning from escort driver to car salesman to security guard. It is this brash and unconventional approach to the rat race that informs his social critiques woven into deeply personal reflections. So, welcome to the journey of the ever-evolving Monk. Dive deep into an intention forging of sound, abstract lyrical concepts and unbridled Hip Hop. Oh, and be sure to bring along your spirit animal; Monk Mandino's is a mountain lion.
